Jacques Derrida: Stop Watching Seinfeld

A video clip has made its way around the internet via the European Graduate School’s Facebook page featuring Jacques Derrida on forgiveness. The clip is from a 2002 documentary Derrida by Kirby Dick. It starts off with Derrida speaking to a group of South African students about forgiveness (hint: Apartheid comes up).

The clip then goes on to an interview where Derrida is asked about Seinfeld and deconstruction. His answer? If you think deconstruction is a sitcom, stop watching sitcoms and go read a book. Watch the clip below.  The interview starts at 5:02.
